Greetings to the community,
I, for one, am happy to see our seasonal residents returning to their second homes, many of which have been doing so for year upon year.
Your neighbors are not harbingers of death, they are the same people that said hi and goodbye to you last Fall as they prepared to migrate South, West or wherever. They are the people whose taxes pay for your schools, fire departments and other services without having a vote. Furthermore their absence gives those of us that are left in the area greater access to those services, causes less wear and tear on the infrastructure and creates substantially more elbow room for several months each year.
Don’t buy into the US vs. THEM fear mongering that is currently being promoted. Yes, it is smart and necessary, to abide by the Covid-19 guidelines that have been put forth by the authorities, however it is also imperative that we continue to appreciate our seasonal residents just as much as the robins, ducks and butterflies that are returning home.
